"When I was a child, I wasn't smart and didn't do well on tests like others in my family. At that time, I only knew that I loved drawing and handicrafts. But my favorite subject in primary school was The Basics of Making a Living. I was so proud when I was admitted to the university. I chose business administration at my family's suggestion, although I would have preferred communications because I love movies. But I was expelled due to bad grades and came back home.
With my sister, I set up a gift shop featuring home décor items but this business failed financially. Then, in 2000, we found our way… we made handbags. At first we designed and crafted them ourselves, then we were able to collaborate with other skilled artisans. However, I still design our bags myself.
"I'm Karuna Chatwongwan nicknamed Na. I was born on April 18, 1975, the third of four children in a Chinese family. My grandparents emigrated from China. My parents were very strict, especially with their daughters.
"When I was young, I wasn't close to my father but, as I grew up, I began to understand him and we became closer. I have always been close to my mother, who gave me a lot of love without conditions. Whenever I had a problem, I could feel how much she loved me.
I am very close to my younger sister and you could say she is my best friend. I can also depend on my two older brothers who always offer suggestions.
"I would like to say thank you to my family. I receive a lot of power from them when I am weak. They fulfill my life."
