Tina Brunelli

"Hello! I'm Albertina Brunelli, but everyone calls me Tina. I was born in the state of Santa Catarina, in the city of Criciúma, on July 11, 1957.

"From the time I was a child, I always liked to sew. I'd piece fabric scraps together for doll clothes and, as a teen, I sewed for me and my sisters. I'd create clothes with appliqué and patchwork handbags.

"In the past, I worked in a state-owned company, and it didn't satisfy me. Finally, one day I resigned, and opened my own workshop. That was in 1991 and it was one of the most important events in my life, along with the birth of my daughters –Juliana and Mariana.

"My work is a very gratifying because it involves fashion research with my direct collaborators. I always enjoyed sewing and handicrafts. I like to teach my daughters and everyone else the things that I've learned. I believe that by teaching, we can multiply knowledge.

"When I entered the university of fashion in 2003, I saw great potential in hand-crafted handbags. I've shown my designs throughout Brazil as well as in Milan, Italy.

"I find motivation in the love I feel for my work, in my designs, in my collaborators and in my family. I want to transmit values of social responsibility and ecological correctness."
