"I was born in Yogyakarta on July 16, 1972, and my parents are government employees. I completed my education in Yogyakarta and graduated in 1998 from Gadjah Mada University. Seeing the world around has made me realize Indonesia's wealth in terms of art and culture. Artists are so original in creating interesting pieces and new designs, by using either simple techniques or modern technology.
"My interest in handicrafts began to grow and challenged me to venture into the design and creation of handbags, all made with natural fibers. The workshop offers women living locally the opportunity of employment, and thus be able to supplement their family's income.
"In 2001, I married Yosepha Tri Wulandari, and we often work together. When she was doing her thesis on fashion, I helped her by introducing her to the different types of textiles and natural fibers, and whether these could be woven or knit. Now she shares her knowledge and expertise with me, for example when designing a handbag, since she is an expert in fashion. She really is my never-ending source of inspiration.
"We have a little daughter now, and she is not shy about giving us her honest opinion about our designs, and even what we wear! I often go with her for walks, and I just listen to the comments she makes, and she always surprises me. Everyday I pray to be able to provide the best for her, and hope she brings good luck to the family."
