"I'm Thipsukarn Janket, from Ubon Ratchathani. I was born on February 25, 1956, the sixth of nine siblings. My parents used to serve under the crown, but now that my father has passed away, some of my brothers and a sister work in other provinces.
"I graduated with a high Vocational Certificate in Accounting, and I worked at the Thai Military Bank for 15 years. However, I quit my job during the economic crisis and got a pension, which I decided to put to good use and start my own venture. I tried several fields but in 2002, I finally opted for designing women's handbags.
"My craft is about wickerwork and home décor, woven by hand from bamboo, pandanus, and reed. Then I thought about incorporating silk and cotton, and customers received well my innovative designs.
"This craft is never-ending. I am constantly creating new designs, crafting new products. I am very attentive and careful of what I am doing to ensure that I am fully satisfied when a handbag is finally finished.
"One of the biggest challenges I have had to face is to design handbags, dye the materials and weave them myself, creating a style that would satisfy such diverse tastes as that of people from Japan, Germany, and France.
"My wish is to be able to create designs that suit modern life styles around the world. I hope that I have created a venture that my children will gladly inherit and wish to continue my work."
