"I like colors, so my designs are colorful and modern too. Just like me. I work at becoming better all the time. I feel proud and happy to create quality handbags and I put my love into them.
"
Sawasdee ka! I am Wunna Chiatram and Na is my nickname. I was born on September 22, 1986 in Surin. I have one elder sister and one younger sister. Sadly, our only brother died in August, 1983 when he was just four months old. My little brother wasn't healthy and a fortune teller told us he wasn't born to be a part of my family. At the time, I believed he died because we were poor. After school, I worked to lighten my family's load.
"Today my elder sister lives in America and my younger sister stays with me in Chiang Mai. Although we are far away from one another, we remain in close contact and I go back home to Surin four times a year. When I feel tired, my family is my reason to keep walking.
"When I was in fifth grade, I was in an accident. My classmates laughed at me because I was absent and I couldn't keep up with the lessons. So I didn't graduate, and went to Bangkok to find a job. I worked as a construction laborer for three or four months. I didn't care that it was hard work and thought only of helping my family. But I felt homesick and decided to go back home. I worked as a waitress at my aunt's bistro at Surin for a year and helped my parents with the rice farming. I often changed jobs until I met my husband. He is a foreigner and together we began designing women's fashion accessories. I really enjoy working with hand-crafted handbags.
"My greatest challenge is to create new designs and choose the materials. I survey opinions to know which styles are currently in fashion. I was very impressed when shoppers were satisfied with my designs. I saw them smile when they choose my handbags and I felt even happier when my cotton bags sold well. I'd like my designs to be known around the world.
"When can't design, I go out to relax, to clear my brain. Maybe I can find inspiration there. After relaxing, I go back to designing again.
"I think the best way for my life is to remain healthy. I strive to live without wastefulness, because I must respond for many lives in my family. My rule of life is to not harm others and to try to succeed where I wasn't successful. When I fail, I will rise up and try again and again. Attempts bring success. I am satisfied with what I have and never stop trying.
"I really want to be able to help people who are unemployed by giving them work. I would like see them have a better living. In the future, I'd my designs to everywhere and hope that everyone will know they're mine."
