"I studied at the School of Fine Arts (UFRJ), but my first contact with tooled leather was at my maternal grandfather's shoe workshop, when I was 12 years old. I have been designing bags since 1975 and by the beginning of the 1980, I had consolidated a name in the fashion world, as a designer and creator of accessories for important national brands.
"In the 1970's I used to live in the Santa Tereza area, which is known as a hippie neighborhood filled with fine artists, musicians, etc. This is where I began my career as a designer and as an artist.
"My wife, Clarice Bardavid, is a stylist, and together we have a son, Matheus. I also have five children from a previous marriage, Joana, Henrique, Pedro, Antonio, e Manoela Vidinha.
"I am also a fine arts artist, and I am currently working on an exhibition of female portraits, where I seek to portray women's souls through elements of their daily lives, not just their faces.
"I am dedicated to my bag collections, which I sign as 'Wagner Vidinha Made in Niteroi.' Designing bags allows me the freedom to experiment and achieve an irreverent touch by using all types of materials. I don't work with pre-conceived ideas, and the results are originally unusual. They are the product of my artistic journey."
