As a child, Renzo played with fasteners and leather pieces while other kids his age played with building blocks and toy cars. The reason for this is that his mother used to take him to the workshop where she worked since there was no one to help look after him.
Born Renzo Dante Costa Bustamante on July 4 1973, his parents divorced when he was a small child. His father specialized in textiles while and his mother in tooled leather. In honor of her son, she created a label for her clothes and accessories bearing Dante's name.
"I've been playing with leather since I was three years old," recalls Renzo. "I used to love it when they'd give me a pile of cut outs to play with. I used to order them by color. My mother would give me bunch of fasteners and clasps to separate by shape or size. This is why I credit my mother for my love of leather."
Renzo studied Commercial Engineering in Chile and soon returned to Peru. It was his mother's dream to have him return and take over her business, the one that she had named for him. Renzo has taken over his mom's workshop, and his work is guided by the love and faith that people have had in him since he was born. His products are of a fine quality and enjoy a very good reputation in Peru. His unique designs attract many and meet the demands of today's markets.
"One of my goals is to have our products recognized around the world. We've already had the opportunity to introduce our products in Germany."
Renzo constantly travels to keep in touch with the current fashion trends in Europe, Asia and South America. He brings back new materials and ideas, and he is very strict with the quality of his products – from the inside to the outside.
Brimming with energy, Renzo is a guy-next-door type of person. He is aware that he is beginning to be recognized thanks to the different interviews he's given and fashion shows he's delivered. This newfound fame is what moves him to always strive for the best.
